Oily effluents are wastewater contaminated by oils, greases, fuels, lubricants, and other contaminants generated in industrial processes, workshops, car washes, gas stations, and maintenance operations. Depending on the characteristics of the effluent, they may contain free oil, emulsified oil, suspended solids, and other compounds that require specific treatment before disposal or reuse.

Oily effluents are generated in various industrial processes and, when not treated correctly, can damage equipment, cause environmental impacts, and result in non-compliance with regulatory agencies.

CCLM develops customized Oily Wastewater Treatment Plants (OWTPs) to remove free oils, emulsified oils, greases, suspended solids, and other contaminants, allowing for environmentally sound disposal or reuse of treated water.

How does the treatment work?

Depending on the characteristics of the effluent, ETEO could combine different treatment stages, such as:

• Oil and water separation;
• Coagulation;
• Flocculation;
• Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF);
• Decantation;
• Filtration;
• Final polishing by ultrafiltration;
• Reverse osmosis (when necessary).

The goal is to remove oils, greases, suspended solids, and other contaminants, producing a treated effluent with quality suitable for disposal or reuse, according to the requirements of each application.
