ETEO | Oily Wastewater Treatment Plant

Efficient treatment of oily wastewater for proper disposal or water reuse.

Oily effluents are wastewater contaminated by oils, greases, fuels, lubricants, and other contaminants generated in industrial processes, workshops, car washes, gas stations, and maintenance operations. Depending on the characteristics of the effluent, they may contain free oil, emulsified oil, suspended solids, and other compounds that require specific treatment before disposal or reuse.

Oily effluents are generated in various industrial processes and, when not treated correctly, can damage equipment, cause environmental impacts, and result in non-compliance with regulatory agencies.

CCLM develops customized Oily Wastewater Treatment Plants (OWTPs) to remove free oils, emulsified oils, greases, suspended solids, and other contaminants, allowing for environmentally sound disposal or reuse of treated water.

Each system is sized according to the flow rate, effluent composition, and client objectives, ensuring greater operational efficiency and reduced water and disposal costs.

How does the treatment work?

Depending on the characteristics of the effluent, ETEO could combine different treatment stages, such as:

  • Oil and water separation;
  • Coagulation;
  • Flocculation;
  • Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF);
  • Decantation;
  • Filtration;
  • Final polishing by ultrafiltration;
  • Reverse osmosis (when necessary).

The goal is to remove oils, greases, suspended solids, and other contaminants, producing a treated effluent with quality suitable for disposal or reuse, according to the requirements of each application.

Technologies that can be used in ETEO:

Each project can combine different technologies, depending on the characteristics of the effluent and the treatment objectives:

  • Oil and Water Separator (OWS)
  • Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF/FAD)
  • Decanter
  • Chemical Dosage
  • Pressurized Filter
  • Activated Charcoal
  • Ultrafiltration
  • Reverse Osmosis
  • UV disinfection

It can be integrated with SAO, DAF Flotation, Decanter, Filter Press, Dosing Pump, Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, WTP and FQ WWTP.

  • What is an Oily Wastewater Treatment Plant (OWTP)?

    ETEO is a system developed to treat effluents contaminated by oils, greases, suspended solids, and other contaminants generated in industrial processes. The treatment allows the effluent to be disposed of in an environmentally sound manner or, depending on the project, reused in non-potable applications.

  • What is the difference between free oil and emulsified oil?

    Free oil naturally separates from water due to density differences and can be removed by equipment such as an Oil-Water Separator (OWS). Emulsified oil, on the other hand, remains mixed with water and typically requires physical-chemical processes such as coagulation, flocculation, and Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) for its removal.

  • What types of wastewater can be treated by a wastewater treatment plant?

    The Oily Wastewater Treatment Plant is suitable for wastewater containing free oils, emulsified oils, greases, suspended solids, and other contaminants generated in industrial processes. Each system is sized according to the characteristics of the wastewater and the treatment objectives.

  • Which sectors can utilize an ETEO?

    This solution is suitable for mechanical workshops, automotive industries, metallurgical plants, petrochemical plants, gas stations, car washes, transport companies, airports, logistics centers, and other businesses that generate effluents containing oils and greases.

  • Does ETEO meet environmental requirements?

    CCLM systems are designed to help meet discharge standards and the requirements of applicable environmental agencies. The design is developed according to the characteristics of the effluent and the legal requirements of each operation.
